Therapy with Shumi

A safe place to Heal, Grow and Reconnect

About me

Counselling changed my life. It helped me break free from the expectations and roles I once hid behind, mother, wife, daughter, provider, peacemaker, the one who always held it all together. I lost myself in them.

Through therapy, I found Shumi, a name that once felt out of place in many spaces. It wasn’t a magic wand that helped me reclaim who I am, it was the journey inward, the real work of healing and growth. I’m still that young girl inside, learning to live her own fairy tale, but now with light and strength.

In Bengali, "Shumi" means "light" and that’s what I hope to be for you: a gentle guide as you uncover the depth of your true self.

With over 20 years of community work experience, including as a Listening Line volunteer, I’ve developed deep insight into supporting individuals through life’s challenges. Witnessing the rise in mental health struggles led me to train as a qualified humanistic integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I now provide therapy tailored to the unique needs of women from all backgrounds, including those from diverse cultural or faith perspectives.
