Privacy Policy & GDPR Compliance

Your privacy matters deeply. I am fully compliant with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and take great care in protecting any personal or sensitive data you share.

What this means for you:

  • I only collect the personal data that is necessary to provide therapy or respond to your enquiry. This may include your name, contact details, relevant medical or personal history and session notes.

  • All data is stored securely (either encrypted digitally or locked physically) and never shared without your explicit, informed consent, except where required by law or where there is a serious risk of harm.

  • You have the right to:

    • Access the personal data I hold about you

    • Request corrections to your data

    • Ask for data to be erased (unless legally required to retain it)

    • Withdraw consent at any time

A full breakdown of how your data is handled, stored, and used can be made available to you. You’ll also receive a summary of this policy when you begin therapy.

Confidentiality in Therapy

Therapy provides a confidential space for you to talk freely and safely. Everything shared in our sessions is private, with the following important exceptions:

  • If I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm

  • If I am legally obliged to disclose information (e.g. in safeguarding concerns or a court order)

  • If my clinical supervisor (who supports me to practise ethically) needs to discuss aspects of my client work, this is always done anonymously

We will go over the confidentiality agreement together in your first session, so you always know where you stand.

Insurance & Professional Practice

I am fully insured with professional indemnity and public liability insurance, as required for practising therapists in the UK.

I also engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development (CPD) to maintain high standards of care and ethical practice.

Client Agreement & Session Terms

Before starting therapy, you’ll receive a clear therapy agreement outlining:

  • Session length and fees

  • Cancellation and rescheduling policy

  • Confidentiality and data protection

  • How we’ll work together, including online/in-person boundaries

This is your space too and I’m always happy to discuss any questions you may have before or during therapy.

Feedback & Complaints

If you ever have concerns about your experience, I welcome the opportunity to talk through them. Open conversation can often resolve misunderstandings.

If you’d like to take a complaint further, you can contact me directly and if the matter is left unresolved, you can contact the BACP through their Professional Conduct Procedure.
